Our company has been in continuous business under the same family ownership since 1951; as the area’s most experienced awning manufacturers, we pride ourselves in our hand-crafted quality, product reliability, and superior service. Our management team is headed by 3rd generation awning makers, and we back our products with years of training and the appropriate design technique demanded by every job. Every order is custom designed and fabricated.
Redwood Empire Awning was founded in 1951 by Don J. Lenney after serving 22 years as sales manager for the Swanfeldt Awning Company of Los Angeles, an industry pioneer. In time, Don’s son Leon and his wife Marilyn assumed ownership in the mid ’70s — Leon has spent his entire working career with the company. Mike Lenney, Leon’s oldest son, joined us in 1981, specializing in production and installation; he’s now the head of Industrial/Agricultural products, and is the company’s administrator. Greg, the youngest son, came aboard in 1989, and is the Production and Installation Supervisor.
Over the years, our firm has won the prestigious “Outstanding Achievement Award” of the Industrial Fabrics Association International, and has received numerous awards from the Western Canvas Products Association.
